My research focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation in agri-food contexts. I am particularly interested in how social-environmental change is unevenly experienced and in working towards more equitable climate policy and practice. My work is interdisciplinary and community-engaged. It is grounded in political ecology, science and technology studies, and the environmental humanities.
My main projects examine climate-smart agriculture in Rwanda, climate change mitigation and adaptation in European agri-food systems, forest restoration as a nature-based solution in Central Africa, and the intersections of climate change and plant pathogens. In each case, I take a mixed-methods, multi-sited research approach. In addition to interviews and surveys, my ongoing work employs participatory photography ('Photovoice'), Q-methodology, and multispecies ethnography to query human-environment relations in contexts of climate change.
I am passionate about teaching and mentoring. I have led courses on climate change, sustainability, and food justice and have supervised graduate students on a wide variety of topics. Please reach out if you would like to talk about working with me!
