Giulia Benati

Postdoctoral researcher

I hold a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Sustainable Urban Planning, as well as an International PhD in Economic Geography from La Sapienza University of Rome and ICTA-UAB. My professional experience spans both the private and public sectors in Italy and abroad.

Before my PhD, I conducted a research period in Germany, worked at CREA for the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, and Forestry, and contributed as a GIS expert and environmental consultant for private companies, as well as a green urban planner within the urban administration of Rome, my hometown.

Following my PhD, I worked in the urban administration of Rome as a data scientist for urban design and began a postdoctoral position at ICTA. This dual experience has provided me with valuable insights into urban planning from both a research perspective and the practical context of urban governance.
