Description
The main goal of this project was to map and assess ecosystem services in the Province of Barcelona and integrate them in the existing decision-support tool SITxell. This tool is used by the Barcelona Provincial Council to support municipalities in their revision of landscape and urban planning instruments and strategies. Specific objectives included:
- Development of spatially explicit indicators of ecosystem services (supply and demand), ecological functions and biodiversity for the Province of Barcelona.
- Assessment of the spatial distribution of ecosystem service bundles in relation to different territorial and planning units (e.g., landscape units, protected areas, etc.).
- Proposal of a green infrastructure model for the Province of Barcelona based on the different aforementioned indicators to support landscape and urban planning strategies.
The project was funded by Diputació de Barcelona (Barcelona Provincial Council) with the collaboration of CREAF. 82,000€ managed in 4 Grant Agreements.
